 The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) is funded almost entirely by voluntary contributions from UN Member States. UNRWA also receives some funding from the Regular Budget of the United Nations, which is used mostly for international staffing costs.

The Agency’s services encompass education, health care, relief and social services, camp infrastructure and improvement, microfinance and emergency assistance, including in times of armed conflict.

We Are Many – United Against Hate (WAM-UAH) brings together people from diverse backgrounds to promote mutual respect and understanding and to stand up against hate, violence, prejudice and inequality.

WAM-UAH seeks to advance this mission as a non-partisan, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization of diverse people – e.g., urban and rural, spiritual, and secular – who are united in seeking equal treatment for all, and speaking out against hate, bigotry, and racism. We seek to enlighten and empower people – especially our youth – through forums and other gatherings and activities that focus on teaching forgiveness and promoting peace. 

 In 2010, Chef José Andrés, used his culinary knowledge and talent to help Haiti earthquake victims and has continued to help those in need on a global level.

Established in 1997, the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS) works to eliminate the threat posed by mines, explosive remnants of war, and improvised explosive devices by coordinating United Nations mine action, leading operational responses at the country level, and in support of peace operations, as well as through the development of standards, policies and norms. 

 UNMAS supports the entire UN system through a small team at headquarters, a humanitarian hub in Geneva, and some 3,000 women and men employed through UNMAS funding in the field.  

 The Middle East Children’s Alliance (MECA) works to protect the rights and improve the lives of children in the Middle East through aid, empowerment and education. In the Middle East, MECA provides humanitarian aid, partners with community organizations to run projects for children, and supports income-generation projects. In the US and internationally, MECA raises awareness about the lives of children in the region and encourages meaningful action. 

The global Engineers Without Borders movement is a community of engineers that believes we can be doing more to address global inequity and injustice. We have been working for over 40 years to contribute to communities in need – in our own countries and beyond our own borders.

Today our presence reaches across all major global regions; Africa, Asia, the Pacific, Middle East, Europe, North, South and Central America and we leverage engineering as a critical enabler of change that allows the planet, including all people and living things, to thrive.

Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) offers medical humanitarian assistance to people based solely on need, irrespective of race, religion, gender, or political affiliation. Our teams of doctors, nurses, logisticians, and other frontline workers are often among the first on the scene when peoples’ lives are upended by conflict, disease outbreaks, or natural or human-made disasters.

The decision to respond is based solely on our independent assessment of medical needs. We work to ensure that our teams can reach people in need without restriction and provide aid directly.
